Fresno, CA – A woman in her 20s, identified as Jessinya Mina, was tragically shot and killed on Friday evening inside an apartment complex near Fresno Street and San Jose Avenue, according to the Fresno Police Department.

The shooting occurred around 6 p.m., and authorities say Jessinya Mina was initially shot inside one of the units in the complex. She managed to make her way outside to a friend’s car, where first responders found her upon their arrival.

“When officers arrived, they were able to contact individuals that the female was with. They did try to give first aid to her and try to help her,” explained Fresno Police Lt. Henry Garcia. Despite their efforts, Jessinya Mina was transported to a hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Police say both her friends in the car and individuals living in the apartment where the shooting occurred are cooperating with the investigation. While details remain limited, Fresno Police have confirmed that this incident is not currently being investigated as a homicide.

Authorities are expected to provide additional updates on Monday.

Anyone with information that could aid in the investigation is urged to contact the Fresno Police Department.

This tragic incident marks yet another devastating loss for the Fresno community, and our thoughts are with Jessinya Mina’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.
