Vermont State Police Issue Blue Alert Following Shooting of St. Johnsbury Officer
St. Johnsbury, VT – Vermont State Police (VSP) are actively searching for Scott Mason, 38, who is accused of shooting a St. Johnsbury police officer on Friday afternoon. Authorities have deemed Mason armed and dangerous and urge the public not to approach him. Anyone who sees him should immediately call 911.
The incident occurred at Mason’s apartment at 261 Portland Street in St. Johnsbury, where police responded to a domestic violence report. Mason allegedly shot and injured the officer before fleeing the scene.
In response, a Blue Alert was activated Friday night, spreading notifications via television and digital platforms. According to VSP, Mason also has an outstanding arrest warrant for failing to appear on 26 unrelated counts of forgery.
